Uh, yeah, don't play this if you want a clean game. I like this game, but this definitely is as gory and violent as GTA. You can slice a man's face off in a ventilation duct fan and throw dudes in a woodchipper.
Also, that's just a snapshot of how game journalists viewed the game at launch, when people would've been to hyped to even take into account any flaws. What more interesting to me is that mixed all reviews score on its steam page.
GTA5 isn't a bad game, at least it's singleplayer isn't, but it's far from the best thing ever. It's high sales numbers don't make it a better game, especially when the issues come from updates.
I think it's only on GOG and Origin though.
If you're looking for something where you get to cause mayhem, but without the same theming (i.e. the grittiness of organized crime and such), there's Goat Simulator, and probably several other physics sandbox games along similar lines.
