I'm obviously in the minority of the people who didn't like Gungeon but I will say that I thought the combat wasn't great. The guns didn't have much impact, enemies had unsatisfying death animations and a lot of them felt spongy. I also didn't like how they seemed to be very strict on ammo and how the guns didn't feel like they had much power difference compared to each other.
I would personally recommend Dead Cells if you want a fast paced, brutal roguelike with great combat.
thanks. why do you think so btw?
I just found the acensions boring, it was never any new levels just the same 3 Acts but harder difficulty. I was wondering if darkest dungeon had more of a progression factor.
Enter the gungeon if you want to die from stress and be bored from non-stop enemy respawning and terribbly big boss hp bars (Which is made worse because a single boss mistake nerfs your hp that run forever).
I like nuclear throne over enter the gungeon. Its more limited than gungeon, but bosses have realistic hp bars. Believe me, every run trying to flawless every boss that takes forever is a pain. Boss's hp and rooms respawn 3-4x enemies are what I hate most about gungeon.
I stopped playing darkest dungeon pre dlc, because it was like bathing in stress. Its not that I couldn't beat it, its that it was pointless to beat since your only reward was the "Never again" penalty on your heros.
If I had to pick between the two I guess gungeon. But really Isaac:Rebirth is vastly better and gungeon copied good ideas from isaac and made them bad ideas. Like in insaac taking redheart damage meant no bonus beating the boss, but you could get soul hearts to protect the bonus. Gungeon they went, what casuals, not even armor protects your bonus here. Not only that here, make every boss take forever and make beating every boss in a row flawless an achivement.
Another mechanic isaac did well gungeon did stupidly was gungeon punishes minmaxing with an item stealing rat while isaac rewards it. Isaac makes secret rooms not too hard to find, but gungeon is like nah fam we gonna make them harder to find and make super rare blanks needed to open them.
I could go on how gungeon copied isaac, but didn't want to be know as a copy, so they flipped good ideas into awful ones. As well as added in payday 2 content and made obtaining it ultra dumb.
