Why do people always question if i'm a furry or straight because of my profile picture?

if you have anthro anything on your profile, people will assume you're actually in the furry community. now, the furry community happens to be one of the most accepting communities (most of the time,) so people are more open to being gay/bi/whatever else, knowing that that they're unlikely to be shunned for it, which makes it look like most furries are gay

It is just that most of them (probably all of them) would use a picture like that, so people usually think that the reverse is true as well, that if you have a picture like that you probably are a furry

apparently and unfortunately yes, you can´t expect not finding people that automatically assumes you are a filthy yiffer or that you´re involved with actual furries that have fursuits and assist to furcons, I don´t have nothing against ´em but I don´t like being tagged as something I´m not, darn stereotypes.

I find it really hard to understand why people hate furries so much while it is considered bad to blame people who do much much more controversial and disturbing things like bdsm for example.
I mean I'm not familiar with what furries do but as far as I know they just like to have... fun... while wearing toon animals costumes.
It just sound boring and uninteresting to me.
Why people hate them so much and accept everything else, even things that seems a lot worse (at least to me)????
