Airsofters, your opinion on M4s?
Curious about people’s opinions on M4s.

Personally, I think they’re popular for a good reason, but find them a bit boring, and something I’d only get when I build a Milsim kit.

Well, they pretty much overrated in the sense that they're purchased the most. But I still prefer them.

My brother owns a MK18 model, while I'm looking for a standard one but with MAGPUL parts.

Fair enough. I went with a SIG 552 for my first gun, and I love it, but it definitely has some downsides. Stuff like proprietary mags and limited battery space in particular.

But the quality of the weapons don't come from their brands, rather than the actual weapons' designs?

In some areas yeah. The popularity of M4s is pretty representative of their popularity in real life, which makes sense. I’ve heard of a few airsoft M4s that can actually use parts from the real steel versions, which is neat.

And do you know the brands for that matter?

I forget exactly at the moment, but once I get home from Uni, I’ll find the video for at least one that I know of and post it here.

Alright. I forgot that one brand's name that make M4s that all pretty much look the same except different barrel lengths, and my brother told me they're like the best brand for said weapon.

Not really related to the subject, and is rather a personal question but...

What's a good full automatic rifle for beginners? I was looking to get an ak-47 but just wanted to check with you guys since you guys sound like you know what you're talking about.

M4s are good, the G&G ones in particular, are really popular for starters. I got my hands on an ICS SIG 552 Commando, which I love, but it does have several drawbacks, such as the ones I mentioned earlier, proprietary mags, limited battery space, etc.

I’ve heard good things about AKs as well, but to my knowledge, the good ones are pretty pricey, so it depends on your budget.

My first is AUG A3 from danish "ASG" company, who make quite good equipment. It looks cool, it has the typical for bullpups drawback of slower magazine change, but has nice 2 stage trigger, going from semi fire to full auto is just a matter of pulling the trigger all the way, without need to push some lever.

Oh nice. I’ve looked at a few AUG A3s, and wouldn’t mind getting one at some point. They’re pretty rare in NZ though, and importing guns is expensive.

I imagine, it's so far away. :(
Oh and I've heard about those M4's that can use some parts from real thing too, don't remember the name though.

Useful, customizable, yet overrated. I'm planning selling my M4s and replacing them with M27 or Scar 17 for my MARSOC wannabe rig.
Besides personally, I prefer AKs.
