Oof
Wow thanks
1. The games are old, and the graphics are dated. I don’t know if that’s reason enough for some people to ignore them.
2. The games have really faithful table top style RPG mechanics. I fear ‘young’ players simply don’t see these types of games any more: The first thing children will say is like “Why can’t I totally spatter the rat with a shotgun at close range?!!” or “Why can’t to do xxxxx?”
The original games have MASSIVE re-playability because there are so many different and hilarious ways to solve all the problems you encounter. You made to explore and interact with NPCs to find them. The first person shooter action games bearing the same ‘title’… I think it’s a crying waste of good Intellectual Property. No NPCs in the latest game? They’re not smoking the “creative stuff”, they’re hiring something special for the top or bottom ranks…
I feel this sad tale is proof that video gaming has gone right now the toilet.
3. Technically, the travel speed is/was linked to your CPU speed?? If you run this game on today's hardware you should be able to scout the entire world map with on one or two random encounters. You used to get a random encounter like every 3 squares? Which made travelling and exploring much more dangerous.
4. There are found fantastic stories found in holodisks(???) Which you the player must read the text.
I very much recommend saving often and making sure you keep some old saves in case you end up completely stuck in an unwinnable fight.
I covered that in #2.
You want to play as Scientist with melee brawling skills go for it, a silver tongued gun slinger why not. Or my favourite the lucky meat-head didn't have a clue about technology or what to say but was able to muddle through the entire game somehow grabbing the wrong end of the right stick without getting burned!
