Thus, game-play is potentially affected by this element.
Recoil is an issue there.
I guess it depends on the game.
Automatic rifles suffer in terms of accuracy, as a general concept.
Imagine though, a .50 CAL Desert Eagle with a ton of muzzle energy can practically fall out of your hands.
In-game, it can reach the same fate.
With a sniper itself, fair to assume it's similar.
I used to play Halo competitively, with lead — due to Halo PCs' netcodes.
Latency heavily affected lead and to do a "3sk", it's a pain.
Lead is also affected by distance.
Took me years to master it, and gained me the nick-name.

Those days for me, are over though.
but if i can have a sniper riffle and i am not at a disadvantage because of it , i will always prefer camping in the distance with a sniper riffle ( sniping a helicopter out of the sky in ghost recon wildlands always is fun ) over rushing the front lines , i would also take a sniper in battlefield , its just games like cod, rainbow six siege or even tf2 , in those i just cant play with a sniper riffle , i need to be able to sit down with a sniper and play tactical , if i have to constantly move around i cant play with a sniper riffle
I like to be prepared for any encounter, even if not specialising in any one of them. If the weapon I’m using is lacking compared to a specialty weapon in a given range, then I need to be more skilled than the other player to counter it, and I’d rather have that and be effective at most ranges, than extremely effective at one range, and useless at every other range.
Always do nice damage.
