Xbox One S & PC audio in the same headset
Hello,

So I recently bought a Xbox One again because of RDR2 and I'm now looking for a way to get the audio from my rig and console in the same headset. I am aware of the windows 10 game streaming option but the quality is poor. My headset is a hyperx Cloud II so I don't own a mixer nor a stereo of any kind.

My question is if you could use a standard aux cable to forward the xbox audio to the computer? I'm thinking if it's plugged into the motherboard you could maybe tell it that it's need to forward the audio from that cable. Please if anyone know anything about this do let me know!

Cheers

Not my question but sure, problem is that I've been on xbox since the original xbox. With that said, I've put a lot of money into that account. But eventually I might buy a PS4 but for now, I'm stuck with the Xbox. Just looking for a way to get the audio from two machines into one headset.

It wasn't back in the day when I decided to jump on the xbox train and it isn't now, sure it'd be nice to get a PS4 to play all the exclusive games they have. But I'm fine watching them on YouTube, if I wanted a PS4 I would've gotten one already but I don't.

I'm confused as to what drives people to make irrlevant comments on a post about something other than the subject at hand. If I wanted to be told how bad Xbox One's are I would've read a PS4 forum on reddit. We all know PS4 is the "better" console, or at least we're all told that, but then again, the only thing that matters is that I own an Xbox and I don't care for PS4's. It's that simple.

Now do you know a solution to my problem or are you gonna tell me more bad decisions I've made?

A Y cable should let you split the same audio signal to two different sets of speakers, but I've never used one to join two different audio outputs into one set of speakers. It might work. I don't know.
Cheers mate, yeah it doesn't seem like a very common thing to connect two devices without a mixer board or similar...

edit: you might not even need multiple input jacks. you might just need one. If your xbox has stereo L and R plugs, you could use a female L and R to male headphone jack Y cable to join the two audio channels from your box into one plug and then stick that plug into your sound card, and then plug a headset into your souncard's heaphone jack. That should in theory play the output from your PC along with the audio from your xbox in your heaphones at the same time.
I don't have a sound card unfortunately, only the standard audio input and outputs on the MB...

The easiest solution would be to simply get a capture card for your Xbox one so depending on the model you might even be able to simply play your Xbox one directly on your PC like I do with my PS3 and PS4 :goggles: though expensive and might not be the best choice depending on what you want to do :goggles:

LOL touchy. Also, no one told me PS4 is better. I did some research, examined the facts, and decided that it is on my own.
Touchy? No. I'm just tired of people saying this and that about consoles and/or computers. It's 2018, it's not like I'm not aware that PS4 is a pretty good machine. Either way, you're reply was irrelevant since it has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

It's just unnecessary to come into a thread and tell me how poor my decision was when I bought a Xbox One.

I do own an old Elgato Game capture card, the original one for PS3 and XB360. Would that work to get the audio through the same headset?

If I may, yes it is very easy - if you are using the mainboard built-in Audio (motherboard) or a Sound Card of sometype, just plug in the Stereo Output (where you would put your headphones into the Xbox) into the LINE IN of the motherboard audio adapter (or sound card). Then, adjust the volumes to your liking (Mixing).
Most audio recording or game recording programs can record "What You Hear", which will record all of the audio 'muxed' into one input/output, within the file being output.

Check with your motherboard manual, how to set up the Line In (and which input connector it is), to make sure you have the right one, and you're good to go. HTH

Edit:
If you need a cable, it is a 3.5mm M-M of some length (male to male 'standard stereo phono audio' cable), tell them it is 'the same jack that headphones use', may help
One end goes to where the headphones would go on your XBOX, the other end goes to the LINE IN (usually Blue) on your motherboard audio adapter area

Yep. Oh and everything is irrelevant.
you are being incredibly toxic in this thread, instead of helping out, you just say why he shouldn't have bought a xbox one.

That is some useful information there, just what I was looking for. Now I just gotta find my aux cable but I'll research some more. I just wanna play some games on the xbox and listen to some music or watch some shows and such like it.

Well see how it goes but I appreciate the help mate!

I've been on xbox since the original console, it wasn't a poor decision at all, I'm well aware what I'm doing when I buy things. And considering I've spent thousands of dollars on games through my xbox account there was no doubt about what console to buy. If I were to buy a PS4 I would have to start all over again. And many games I own has replayability with it, plus the whole backwards compatability section of xbox.
