First Person Shooters V.S. Third Person Shooters?
So, between first person shooters and third person shooter games, which do you like more?..

Third person shooter games allow you to switch shoulders, peak arround corners, or implement cover systems and let you see your characters and offer different camera options.

First person shooters are simpler. There usually isn't an ability to switch shoulders, are less likely to have cover systems, but generally offer a more realistic point of view and many offer the option of using the sites and optics on the weapons for a first person perspective.

So, which do you find more enjoyable, more fun, and why?

FP is based off the real world, it's hard to cheat FP.
and really, theres no reason you cant have some cover shooter elements in a first person game, or the ability to slide into cover, dive roll out of danger, etc

FPS game makers do stupid stuff like not adding those things, if only they did.

yeah, i mean, working in UE4 and the animation blueprint its not hard to set up a baseball slide or diving animation that transitions into a prone or crouched state after the animation when clicking either the crouch or prone button when sprinting

as far as cover system goes.. im trying to imagine myself into a FPS game with a cover system but no third person camera, and i have to say i'd probably rather lean or ease my way around a corner, or crouch behind a wall than i would actually use a cover system so i am not sure it'd be worth the coding in an FPS.. but the other action controls, certainly

Depends on the game. On games like MGS V, TPP is better. On games like CS:GO, FPP is better.

I prefer third person shooters.
Especially with females characters...
For obvious reasons :goggles:
It really depends on the game. I don't like first person gta, because despite how "immersive" it may be, gta is the kind of game where you need to be aware of your surroundings. It even restricts where you can aim and shoot while in vehicles, so it's detrimental to gameplay as well. Dead Rising games benefit from being able to view the protagonist from a distance and see everything around him. In Spec Ops:The Line, being in third person helped drive the narrative of the disconnection between players and their actions.

Meanwhile, I could never imagine first person games like Timesplitters 2, Outlast, Siege, Red Orchestra 2 or any of those being able to work in third person

Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast had first and third person gameplay and both were quite good.

It's really a per-game and per-player preference.

Dying Light has a slide move, left/right/back dodge move, shoulder charge, slide knee cap break move, counter move, body throw, two footed flying kick, standard kick, head stomp, parkour drop kill, head run, dead guts camo trick and probably some more I have forgot about all in first person. Most are unlockable skills. Doing all that and flying over roof tops in Parkour with Volitiles on your butt kind of make most FPS games feel kind of tame and limited.

Far Cry 5 has a run slide move and a wall hug cover move that you can pop out left/right and up all in first person. Early in game it has a skill tree so not sure if it unlocks gymnastic stuff later.
you know what ive always thought was odd in gaming? that you could be running full sprint and run face first into a wall.. and stop, or face first into another person or half rail, and stop.. realistically, youre falling, if you run into another person, youre going down, and if you hit a half rail, youre flipping over.. i wonder if it'd be too unrealistic to simulate physics on impact with other players and stationary objects while sprinting to discourage people from running into stuff

if you think thats bad, some creeps from somewhere in europe i think it was created a game where you play an incredibly unproportionate looking female, if you know what i mean, whose only real activity in the game is to run around screwing guys and giving BJs.. yeah, makes me wonder if gamings dead
I said this many times, but I'll say it again. First person perspective is the best, nothing can beat it. However I prefer the third person perspective sometimes like when you have a smoking female as the player character that you need to admire the beauty while playing.
