im not sure if you're saying the corner peek in TPS is a good thing or bad
There is something cool about being able to use cover, or dive around, or run on the side of walls while shooting at people and so on.
Also they have climbing up walls in them sometimes and that is nice to me.
taking everything i heard into consideration, i think i will probably end up going with a first person shooter, because i do not think it is very realistic to be able to see around corners without sticking your head out.. the ability to lean in an FPS game allows you to peak more realistically, and its also not realistic to be able to see behind your character either
other actions like rolling, sliding, climbing, etc can still be implemented in FPS and probably will be.. i could even implement a cover system where, with your back against a wall, you will be facing in the opposite direction of the wall with the ability to peak around, or over the obstacle, but i do not think it will be necessary
It would be fun.
Also it is what the game Gunz did but that was a third person game.
nah, if an issue is third person perspective giving people an unfair and unrealistic advantage, then anyone who just wanted to enjoy a first person perspective would be disadvantaged.. i dont like the option to use both for something with PVP because everyone will be forced to use TPS for that reason
Yeah Star Wars Battlefronts 2 (classic) always dolly mode, cuz first person was just asking for it in PvP.
I prefer first person shooters. I find them more immersive.
i havent played that game but it does make sense.. so unless you have a game that wont have any PVP, you really have to pick one or the other
If it's something like Battlefront where both options are available in multiplayer, I'll usually go 3rd person for a better FOV.
The angle perspective offered by third-person shooters takes away the competitive element.
I would hate to see a third-party shooter make it as an E-sport title.
The story-line is somewhat irrespective of overall shooting mechanics.
However, if your intention is to create a tactical shooter game, you'd want to go FPS.
BR games tend to support third-person due to large maps.
The field-of-view is well-suited.
For the love of God, i hate BR games though...
The actions as mentioned can also be integrated into third-person.
It could just be a temporary display.
I.e - where the player temporarily loses other controls, and the action (climbing, sliding) plays cinematically.
It's something similar to the "assassinations" in Halo Reach.
