720p or 1080p on a 900p monitor?
My monitor has an output of 900p and I hooked up my PC to the Xbox One because there's only one port on the monitor. The problem is the Xbone only supports 720p and 1080p (you could also get 640x480, if you're mad), but my monitor output is 900p. So which one should I picked for the best image quality?

If I may summarize, 1080p will be displayed downscaled ('squished down') [for your monitor], whereas 720p will be upscaled ('stretched'); so it depends on apparent quality ('what looks better to you'). Some people like the higher detail in 1080p downscaled, where some like the slightly smoothed-out version of 720p being upscaled.

Note that downscaling is a form of anti-aliasing ('getting rid of the jaggies/stair-steps along diagonal edges in games'), and both NVIDIA and AMD have forms of "rendering the output larger than the monitor, downscaling it to fit the monitor; which reduces the aliasing seen" (called Super Sampling).

So, if you want to get rid of aliasing more, you'd use 1080p [for your 900p monitor], but if you like how it looks the other way, try 720p - and decide which looks better to you.
(Note that some monitors will not display resolutions that they aren't normally meant to display (called 'out of range'), some will, with an error; and some will display them without issue)

I thought a ton of Xbox1 games ran at 900P...?

:qr:
The hell is 900p?
720 will work but you will probably get an error if you try 1080

Well that is the native resolution.

My monitor said that it's not an optimal resolution, so it'll still work.
