Lastly, it's possible that the site may be blocked on your router or fire-wall configurations.
If you're using a private network, contact your network administrator.
Some ISP's may block certain domains for unknown reasons, so inquire with your ISP.
A simple ICMP echo request should reveal more information.

Ping is a simple network diagnostic tool.
It sends an ICMP echo request and if the host is up & running there's an ICMP reply.
