People need to learn that you are going to get those few bad apples commenting or getting answers you don't like and consider it to be someone being "toxic". Ignore them if their answer is not what you are looking for. If you respond, it will just make things worse and you will be in an endless feud with someone over the internet you may never come across.
- Are not related to the point of the post in any way
- Are specifically aimed to defame me, as in accusing me of something I've never said
- Are sometimes aimed to beat around the bush, aka try to talk about something that hasn't anything to do with the original post
^ and at that point I just give my final answer and unsubscribe from the discussion.Sometimes I even answer 500.000 times repeating the same thing over and over again, and they still won't understand the point. I think they're doing that on purpose, honestly.
Then I'm pretty sure people will be "gwaa she can't discuss, she unsubscribed and left". Of course.
Anyway, if you're interested in my idea feel free to add me or check my profile. We're already building something to help some Steam users.
I don't know about other social media like facebook or other forums.
Personally, I've never been downvoted at all on Reddit because I follow this reasoning: "as long as I'm providing interesting and intelligent answers/topics I shouldn't be on the wrong side of the rails". Though, I've also seen some interesting (but way too aggressive) comments being downvoted. Definitely not really fair downvoting them down to hell.
Chan is definitely toxic as far as I could see, but I've never tried to post anything there.
Good luck with that
But even in a Steam group, we’re still subject to Steam’s terms of service, so if you really want a platform where you can freely moderate/administrate, consider creating your own forum instead.
I used to administrate in an IPB-based forum. It was easy to use and there are plenty of premade themes available.
It is not just the responibility of the other users to 'care' about your feelings, but your own for realising when you are taking things too personal or are overly sensitive about a subject, and are ranting to a group of people that most likely won't care.
Yes, you're right. But when it comes to having most people being toxic then that's another story, because it becomes literally impossible to discuss about anything without getting useless and annoying stuff.
Yes, might not become huge but I'm trying.
Yep, because they don't feel responsible of what they type, since there are no consequences. Some people, instead, are able to discuss, and my little project is a perfect place for that. I hope it'll become kinda popular at least.
Thanks, I hope it grows. Well yeah, but I think that Steam Guidelines themselves are mostly fine.
That's definitely true. Unfortunately I always try to discuss even with people who just want to bother me, so I end up feeling frustrated.
Sadly you do have to care about others, if you push someone to where they do something drastic, you can be liable or it end up impactng you in real life. Wasn't like that in the early days of the net, and I was free to say whatever I wanted. But now you need to take care, for your own good.
