When someone is staring at you, do you stare back?

I didn't used to, but now I do as a learned behavior from living in a not so good area. You learn to stare at other people to intimidate them. Kind of like how dogs stare at each other as a sign of aggression.

It's a defense mechanism as well, telling another person that you are not to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with if they try anything. Youre not afraid to stare back at them.

I'm from the U.S. too, so maybe it's a cultural thing.

Same. I don't enjoy it, but it's a defense mechanism. I'm not afraid or intimated by them.

well a required part of catching someone looking at you, is looking back at them in order to catch them in the first place, i just stick to that. usuallly people aren't staring at me, they're just looking at their environment and the people in it, like the rest of us with moving heads and eyeballs

i don't find it intimidating though when people actually do stare, i'm very whatever about it. except for when it's done by people who are very obviously finding me attractive - i hate that for some reason

i survive rough areas, not by staring at the other humans, but by being aware of my surroundings and obviously being on some kind of mission, i.e. not an easy mark, not a gormless idiot, not a lost tourist - someone who has every right to belong there, someone walking with confidence and ease. i don't even bark to scare people off

that and ain't nobody gonna be intimidated by my generic average white man stare
