A game with dialog choices, even if they aren't really that full of impact, are hardly made and I myself is starving over those type of games.
Hope I'll get to experience those things again, someday. :(
And this is just a personal and completely subjective criticism, but I never liked the art style they consistently went with after The Walking Dead. I know it's supposed to be a comic/graphic novel look and I appreciate that they are visually distinctive, but to me, it just looks kind of bad.
It's always sad when a game company closes down and people lose their jobs, but of the two game companies that got shuttered this week (TellTale and Blue Castle/Capcom Vancouver, aka the Dead Rising guys), I definitely don't feel quite as bad about TellTale as I do about CV and those guys deserve it after making Dead Rising 4.
Telltale Games are about as straightforward as you can get. You buy the game, you get the entire season, and they sell exactly two DLC. 400 Days for the first season of the Walking Dead. And the Adventure Pass that added three more episodes to the first season of Minecraft: Story Mode. No special editions.
What exactly are you confused by?
For me I really hope that Double Fine Productions can get the rights to Sam & Max, Bone, Monkey Island, Puzzle Agent, Hector, and maybe even Strong Bad. The rest I feel will end up getting shoved into obscurity from copyright arguments.
Most of them are licensed. They'll just go back to the original rights holder.
