AT&T Fiber - high ping connecting to Valve servers
Is anyone else having high ping issues connecing to Valve servers? Trying to get AT&T to fix this issue. I would like to find more people with this issue to force AT&T to fix it.

We've had people in here before claiming the same things.
Their ping trace-route confims what a google search reveals; AT&T off-loads your data onto another ISP once it reached the first main hub; that's the problem, the ISP itself is garbage. You can't fix it.

I'm having this issue and it's only to Valve servers. They are routing traffic to Telia servers. AT&T has to fix it. We are paying them to be our service provider. Service isn't working correctly since there is high latency.
Complain to them, switch, or move... those are the options really.
Yea it sux. But AT&T has always sucked I must say.
See if Verizon FiOS or Google Fiber is available in your area.
The issue is very recent, only about 2-3 months. I've had AT&T service for about 10 years (over a year on gig fiber), never had an issue. There is another fiber provider in my area, would like AT&T to fix this routing issue so I'm not forced to switch. The tech that came out a week ago did a "presidential escalation" and someone from HQ was supposed to call back within 72 hours. Over a week later, still waiting.
AT&T is probably doing things half-way so to speak and contracting alot of their services, like line-routing through another company to save money. Verizon hasn't gone to that extreme but they did cut out Verizon-side email to where you have to go through AOL's website to access that anywhere. One reason I warn folks to never rely on your ISP mail for anything important, cause if they pull that crap, or you need to change ISPs, you could lose that email, or might not like it (like when switched over to AOL's servers/site)

A call-back? Hmm no you should be able to call and talk with customer support right away. Hell even Comcast doesn't have those issues. I can speak with Comcast right on their website pretty much 24/7, now sure for some issues like major account changes, I'd need to wait til regular business hours depending on the issue at hand; but for complains or support with the service, a line or modem checkup, that can be done on Comcast 24/7

Also, how old is your ISP Modem?

Yeah, and with the new net laws I have a feeling everything is going to get worse or cost a lot more.

I can call customer support but I get the people who read off scripts like robots. I do have an open ticket, it's supposed to be with 3rd tier support. The people who answer the phones can't help me since it's above them. Everyone on the team "doesn't have a phone number".

I got the new modem with the new service, so over a year. Everyone thing works great except the latency issue to Valve servers. I'm 100% positive it is a routing issue. I've talked to someone from Kentucky (I'm from Chicago) with the same exact problem except his is related to Atlanta Telia traffic.

I know they will not want to fix anything for 1 person. But if I can help people realize there is a problem, it will hopefully force them to do something about it.
Yes there is that exact problem you speak of, google searching confirmed this months ago it seems where folks who have AT&T specifically are seeing their ping-routes jumping to AT&T and then another hop or so, and ending up going through Telia and then to Valve. Once the hops are through Telia the latency is through the roof in most respects. Such a shame to see a so-called top-tier ISP, offering Fiber connections and yet pulling this kind of non-sense that makes the service unreliable for folks like yourself.
