4 differant host over the years.
I fail to understand what you talking about. You posted a thread about whats the oldest online multiplayer game that is still actived.
As for FPS I found quake II so far is oldest and is original, no mods and you search for a server and connect and you online. But im sure they is older games that are still actived for FPS. But for MMOs, MUD is way back too 1989, Everquest back in 1999, Ultma online back in 1997
I even re-downloaded these old games to test them for this thread. Infact im downloading Quake I as we speak to see.
What does the term active mean here ? Games that are still playable online or games that have a active player base online ?
I tested Quake II other day, I joined a server and it had players playing deathmatch. No mods on my end just vanilla version from steam. I tested kingpin too and that too has active players online.
https://ultimatehistoryvideogames.jimdo.co (add "m" to com) steam banned any links to sites
also doom came out in 1993 i believe sooooo
Well technically it is still active just not from offical servers, but that breaks the no mods part of the topic so I won't get into that.
Hexen II still has servers running but couldn't connect to any ont them, seems my version is out of date. For Unreal Gold, master server is down, not sure if possible to connect if no master server. Other two couldn't find multiplayer at all.
So far I know of for FPS games - Quake II, Kingpin, half-life all working. But with quake II and kingpin you need to find the IP address yourself as their is no browser.
A client bassed server searcher. I woundered what zandronum was at first, after a few minutes of google I now know what it is.
If this program does what it says it does then I would guess Doom would be the oldest FPS. Im not downloading or trying it myself but if anyone else uses it, could you comfirm.
