FPS with heavy crafting focus
Hi, i am looking for a first-person game with heavy focus on crafting system, be it survival or not.

Have tried Rust -- crafting system is fairly weak, not much to do with it.
Have tried ARK -- a bit better, but still fairly primitive and recipes are being unlocked by MMO-like progression which is not making much sense.

Looking for something more deep and complex than that, mods are considered.
Good example would be a modded Minecraft, 1.7.10 with IC2, GregTech5 and OpenComputers is making a solid stand for futuristic technology-based playthrough and Terrafirmacraft is nice for more realistic worlds.

This might sound dumb but I suggest looking into ARMA 3's latest campaign DLC where you play as Insurgents. It's more of an inventory management RTS where you play as the little guys and coordinate an effective strategy but I think it has what you're looking for on a larger scale.

Each to their own.

I agree, try out Arma 3's latest expansion. Should be exactly what you want, although being an Arama game you'll need a beast of a PC to play it. Arma takes serious CPU power, potatos need not apply.

Minecraft is kind of an FPS.

Minecraft.

Get the latest version and download these basic mods:

Minecraft Comes Alive
Biomes o Plenty [and the other stuff made by their creator]
Tekkit
Mo Creatures

and download other mods, and you get one of the best experiences.

I'll 2nd arma 3, it's pretty much just a sandbox, a fairly biggy one at times, but there's survival mods that you can hugely tweak to make it difficult for crafting, change how often and what lpot/parts will spawn.
I will say it won't be just a jump in and go, but I got it by accident last year and racked up 3000 hours, mostly playing scenarios I made. Really really malleable sandbox.

Thanks, i had ARMA 3 but yet to try this new expansions.

The first-person-ish is ultimate requirement to my original post, sorry, also terraria a bit on downside from mods more-or-less like vanilla minecraft.

I have considered the forest, but got review that it as simple as ARK/Rust, but have yet to try first-hand.

Fallout games are not by any means crafting-focused, though NV and 4 indeed pushing this part further than other ones, i am afraid it is still pretty simple.

TF2 is actually good one, i think, considering ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amount of hats there... But this is a joke, right?

You would be correct. I'd argue that The Forest has even simpler crafting when compared to ARK and Rust, and I don't think Arma 3 has any crafting. I don't have it though, but I have Arma 2 and there definitely isn't any crafting in that game. FPS part is correct, but no crafting.

Honestly, you'd be hard pressed to find something more complicated than ARK and Rust that is also an FPS.

What do you mean by more advanced? Like, for getting wood, you have to chop down trees (with a stone axe assembled with sticks and stones) then cut the wood up individually and break that down further and if you can, create planks of wood. Are you talking that level of advanced?

Because I don't think anything like that exists. That's like a crafting/survival simulator.

Fallout 4 is definitely what you are looking for.
