I can't press shift with my pinky.
So lately I've been playing a lot of fortnite. Please don't hate on me I don't want to start meaningless arguments with people that say fortnite sucks or whatever because I like it and that's my opinion. I have been using my ring finger to press shift, caps and ctrl since I was little when I started playing video games. That's been bothering me lately and it prevents me from building at my fastest in fortnite because I can't run then. Changing keybinds won't help me. It feels like I have no strength in my pinky maybe because I have never used it for anything, not even typing. So my question is what do you guys think I should do? Continue struggling(because I have to put in a lot of strength in my pinky to press the button and hold it for a long time) or just buy a mouse with extra buttons and bind that to run. Please let me know what finger you press shift with, not like it's going to help me a lot. Also do you think the problem with me feeling no strength in my pinky will go away if I just use it a lot? I am really confused ;D

I usually use my pinky finger to capitalize my letters in sentences, which is why I am used to pressing shift.

I have never used it at all. So going from ring to pinky right now is pretty hard.

Well, both options seem suitable enough for me, but personally I'd just start using the pinky if I were you. It does take a lot of effort at first, but your finger will get stronger. It's like when playing Guitar Hero on Hard/Expert, the biggest hurdle is using that weak pinky to press buttons, but it'll get stronger!

You can also use a mouse like you said if you want, it's up to you, but that's just my opinion. A mouse may simply be better for you, and that's okay.

Thanks for giving me your opinion. I was going to try the pinky anyway because I can't get a mouse this month so at least try before buying a new mouse. I've already settled on Deathadder 2013 but I am going to try with pinky because I am trying to save enough money for a 144hz but144hz monitors are expensive af for average people like me. Thanks for your opinion I appreciate every comment(except hate ones)

i agree
at first i had to rebind crouch to q in minecraft since shift was hard to reach, now i can bend my pinky finger all the way to the left in a 45° angle

Update
Ok I know you guys might not really care but I am really grateful to each and one of you. I have been starting to get used to pinky, and my new bindings and my building has gotten way faster. Right now, as I am typing this, I click shift with both my pinky and ring because I am still not quite used to it. I just started getting used to it, but I just got a 5 kill game, and these 5 kills came from the first 2 minutes. Me, clicking shift with my ring would have never done that, as weird as it sounds. So yeah, I just wanna say thank you one more time to everyone who told me to try with my pinky(basically everyone). Thank you!

I learned it in one weeks and then auto-run came out.

Train that pinky.

I have very long fingers, so if my hand is on WASD placement, I can even reach Shift with my thumb. It gets sore that way though, so eventually I just got good with the pinky.

I use my thumb to press shift, ctrl, alt, tab etc.Never thought of doing it any other way
