If you are really interested Id recommend finding your local smokers shop they will help you enjoy it properly and will probably be happy to do so.
Of course, the better option would be to replace the Tobacco with cannabis.
I kid, I kid.
I mean, he's free to do what he wants to with it, including throwing it away, but I would smoke it if it were given to me. I've never actually had a real cigar, though, so maybe I'll have to try one some day.
It'd be a shame if he never smoked to avoid cancer and still ended up with something like pancreatic or prostate cancer.
All for highly temporary relief, if that (some people I know don't get relieved sometimes when smoking).
It's just there so tobacco companies can earn money. Nothing else. Like that "truth" video with all those old memes that a lot of people hate, it was intentionally there to make anti-smoking look bad with the young people. (Tobacco companies had to make anti-smoking commercials as a court settlement)
