Anime similar to Area 88?

The only animes I’ve watched are Area 88 and Yukikaze. I loved Area 88 and want something similar to watch.

I’m not really into the “weirder” animes, while I can see the appeal, it’s not my thing.

Well, which area 88 did you want? Because there's the original from the 80s and the newer one, so if you only watched one of them I would recommend watching the other one. I can't think of a lot of dog fighting anime that doesn't get absolutely bizarre after like 5 minutes so I guess maybe Last Exile although that's not really a dog fighting anime it's mostly about planes. You could also play the Super Nintendo game I guess comma because I mean despite the fact that it's called u
N. Squadron it is 100 and 10% area 88. You could also you know read the Manga if you want.

And as a huge fan of area 88 I really am trying to actually think of something that you might like. I mean holy crap I guess if you really wanted to go old-school you could watch Robotech or any of the macros stuff. They're way more sci-fi but they do tend to focus heavily on the dog fighting.

The original one is easily the better one. The newer one is really good as well, and has a better soundtrack, but I feel like the original has the better story.
