RGB: Creative expression or unicorn puke?
Love it or loath it, RGB is everywhere in gaming. You can order RGB for any peripheral, even RGB headsets and microphones. Even monitors. And literally every PC component can be RGB, including the cabling and water cooling fittings.

Where do you stand on it? Do you love it because... reasons... Or do you hate it because it looks like an ill unicorn was sick all over your desk?

Discuss.

I dunno it looks fine to me but I'm not going to buy stuff just because it has flashy lights.

I prefering that my Stuff is lighting green. Its pretty netrual in my opinon of the RGB effects. RGB can cost costly.

For my two cents; a little RGB can accent a build. I have some low-luminosity RGB hidden around the case and built into the motherboard, but only to pick out the shapes of parts. I actually want the case interior to be shadowed, picked out with a little strategic lighting in a customisable colour.

All of the aesthetics in my build come from physical parts and the colours they're painted.

The only RGB I genuinely like is an RGB keyboard. For the simple reason that they're very useful for working at night and furthering my unhealthy habit of studying after midnight.

Lights affect us humans, some are good and others are bad.

My keyboard is in some sort of stronger red.

Lit keyboards are fine, it's just unicorn puke builds I struggle with. The kind with RGB on everything. I cannot understand why anybody would want a twenty-coloured flashing eyesore on their desk to distract them. Normally I wouldn't argue taste, but is that taste? Or a vacuum where taste has fled? :)

It can be a unicorn puke build. But I chose not to :D

I really like RGB, but considering the fact that my keyboard, mouse, mouspad, headset, and desktop case fans all have RGB, I think I've gone overboard...

It's even worse when these people also use their computer in the dark. I feel like that has to be really bad for their eyesight.

Something nice about a keyboard I have though is that I can set up different presets for the macro keys, along with different light colors for those presets. So I'd always be able to know what macro preset I'm using.

Same.

I bought an ROG Maximus board for this build, and I love the way it looks with the RGB off. The board itself is shark grey with subtle chrome accents, and I built the rest of the PC's theme around that. It's all gunmetal-matte with exposed nickel heatsinks, looks sexy as hell. My only regret is the RGB RAM, I couldn't afford the Corsair Dominator kit I really wanted :(

I can live with out it tbh. sure nice to have lit upp keys if you game or searching the internet in the night. but on hardwaear inside the computer. no just no, just another cost for the costumer who dont care for it.
allso reminds me of Linus tech tips video somewhat.

Maybe ridiculously overdone RGB is just how nerds flex, instead of wearing expensive clothes and 4 watches.
Vuitton Vampire Jul 20, 2018 @ 2:33am
im all for creative expression but these RGB freaks reach a point where its no longer creative expression and more so a statement, or a social status if you will. "Ooooo look at my mousepad its rgb" "oooooo look at my ram its RGB" like ok YEA we get it you like flashing colors. Personally, a back lit keyboard, lit mouse and colors on fans is enough for me. I dont need or WANT rgb on my usb ports or rgb on my headset... its silly.

If you are going to go overboard with the RGB atleast make it look nice, and by nice I dont mean just slapping it on everything, but have a custom case or custom keyboard etc etc with a running theme. Custom stuff with RGB I can get behind, imo thats more creative expression than unicorn vomit.
