Do you guys like skill-based movement in games?
Stuff like bhopping, strafejumping, airstrafing, rocket jumping, etc.

I love when games have movement tricks. It's just fun to be able to practice and improve your movement and then play better because of it. Whether it's hitting bhops in L4D2 or having really good airstrafes in TF2, I just find it really satisfying to successfully pull off some sort of advanced movement.

That said, I don't think it's something for every game. A game like Rising Storm 2 probably doesn't need bhopping.

I do not know if I would count Team Fortress 2 in the list while it does take skill a lot of the stuff people do that looks skillful end up just being something that abuses the source engine.

And there is a good reason a lot of games got rid of bunny hopping it completely kills a lot of games. Look what it did to Team Fortress classic just people praying and flying around to steal the flag rather then working as a team.

It's not abuse when Valve intended for it to be used.

They just kept most of it in. A lot of the rocket jumping you seen people doing where they fly all around like crazy was considered abusing the source engine but they kept it.

So it is one of those kept glitches.

In other words they did not attend for people to fly around as freely as they do or as far.

Early TF2 trailers show rocket jumping. They were plenty aware of how the Source engine works.

Yeah rocket jumping is one thing but people used to not fly around as freely or as far as they do now.

Yeah I love it, especially since movement and I get along perfectly in games, I wish more games had better, more fluid combat. One of the reasons I enjoyed GunZ was because it came down to one thing; skill. And usually, I'd end up sweeping the enemy team.

Gunz was fun but to many hackers in it. Or people doing that shotgun switch thing that made no sense.

Eh, unless they were being obvious about it, I wouldn't be able to tell, for the most part (I think) I didn't see too many hackers.

I still hear the sound of 100 sword swings a second like a fan of death while they also flew around.....

I do wish the game was still online though it made me think of the Matrix somewhat.

Haha, they still have GunZ: The Second Duel, which probably is populated with hackers. Yeah, I just wish there were more skill based combat games, I liked For Honor for what it was, but it just came down to holding.

More importantly than whether or not Valve intended for rocket jumping to be as strong as it is, think about how weak soldier would be if he could only do basic rocket jumping and couldn't gain speed with advanced jumps. Scout would absolutely dominate the game.

Well got to keep in mind back then before people found out about that Heavy was the king of killers besides Sniper and Spy back then. Heavy had the Natascha back then that would stop people to 5% of there normal speed or so by just hitting them with one bullet at any range stopping them in spot in mid air to.

So Heavy would be the Scout killer pretty much if his one minigun did not get nerfed.

love skill based movement, wish there was more in things other than speedrunning or old games.

Yea, sure?
I can use it to break games and that is what I do

I mean there's games like CSGO where bhopping is severely gimped because of how important timings are in CS. Like back in CSS before a bhop velocity cap was added you could bhop from spawn and reach sightlines really early and get cheap kills. But in CSGO bhopping only gives a small advantage that isn't a substitute for learning the basics of the game.
