Do you consider Steam to be a social media site?
With the advent of profile customization, Steam levels, discussion forums, followers, and other things, it seems like many folks are using Steam as social media.

Do you think Steam is a social media site now? Why or why not?

Yes, but I wouldn't consider it to be as social as other platforms. It has the means to be a social media platform, just not everyone will be social.

It all depends on how you use it. Some people don't bother setting up their profiles, leaving them with question mark profile pictures and names such as james.anderson.98, getting right into the gaming. Others may treat Steam as Instagram and Facebook at the same time, being sure to tell the world what they just ate for dinner.

Nice judgement of taste coming from someone with a private profile
theres nothing wrong with private profiles... they just choose that you aren't allowed to see their information.

I add a lot of players from my favorite game! I have 844 friends who play it, and lifetime stats of my friends are 1,141,912 hours, which is an average of 1672 hrs played.

This is true, plus you can socialize with other gamers even if you can't play any really popular games on your hardware.
