What's with people thinking blood is blue?

Now you just say they are stupid or dumb or something else. They just say "veins look blue, blood is in veins, blood must be blue unless oxygenated". But when your SCIENCE teacher says that, thats just a whole another thing. What's with people thinking blood is blue?
