I disagree that it adds more ways to play. I think it does the opposite, in fact. It limits the ways you can play to just combat building (which is think is a dumb mechanic personally).
Either you're building an entire condominium because one stray bullet passed you, or you're trying to become a demolitions expert to figure out how to best topple said condo.
Back then they had two different prototypes going on: faster building and actual skill-based shooting. Unfortunately this is what you get nowadays, the skill-based shooting didn't make it. No turbo building and this thing instead and I would have never quit Fortnite years ago.
edit: actually found the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnUkFYTxMhg
Well, since it's still here. I avoid build mode, but the no build mode is hella tight. Funnily enough because of no build mode, I think Fortnite is the best BR we got out now lmao.
Oh well, building was cool
I remember when they had two prototypes and one was focussing on building and one on shooting, the former has been introduced and the latter was actually eSport-worthy.
Also i think build mode could have just been fixed with tweaks to slow it down. This way you could keep the unique aspect of it without 5s Taj Mahals
