Man convicted over a joke.
I'm unsure if this counts as a political discussion, if it does, my bad.

So, if nobody here knows the story of Count Dankula, he's the guy who trained his girlfriends dog to be a Nazi to mess with her.

Well, he's now officially been convicted for the crime of being "grossly offensive" in the UK.
Thoughts? Personally, I think this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous.

Yeah, Steams censorship system is awful.

Someone once told me that most of Europe had the same rights to free speech as the United States does. Suppose that is no longer true.

This would be a real reason for people to protest, before they start throwing everyone in prison for telling bad jokes.

That is kind of like being a parent and teaching your kids bad things for fun.

Normally the police take the kids away from parents like that.

Yeah it could be worse, with all those daily shootings. Oh wait that's the united states.

Also he was convicted under Scottish law, has nothing to do with the UK as a whole.

It would be more understandable if it was his own dog, but it's not. So I can't really defend him. I mean, to spell it out he trained his girlfriend's dog to be a Nazi to her, that's pretty stupid.
But it is funny as hell.

"If you trade your freedom for security, you deserve neither."

Oh, and the video I responded to was on a different topic.

He did it to make her angry, and he got the intended reaction but she didn't take it overboard like the UK government did, she even supported him when his trial came. Before he was found guilty.

Freedom of speech eh
A school has the right to fire teachers. His job is to teach the youth, not slander the military. His words reflect poorly on the school.
The UK, however, convicts people over jokes and now plans to convict people who view "terrorist related media",including things relating to "the far right", for up to 15 years, while ignoring immigrant crime and literal grooming and rape gangs.

TL;DR, the UK is cucked.

You're cherry picking an arguement, people are fired for their opinion because freedom of speech does not apply to privately owned organizations and companies. This happens everywhere in the world.

Being fired for toxic opinion or something you have done in the past is different from being fired because of your gender, race or religion. He was fired likely so it wouldn't give the school any sort of bad reputation for keeping him after his incident.
