The great minds throughout history, where did they come from? I think it would be easier to tell you where they didn't come from.
It's a myth. But it's possible that it may have existed.
Well, the lost city of Troy was actually found.

But the lost city of Atlantis is still concider lost today, but who knows.

El Dorado was most likely a myth.
It could had been a real location. Plato's dialogues mention it frequently.

Of course, no science fiction stuff or anything of sorts, had it existed. A natural disaster could have led to its "disappearance".

Aegean sea volcanic activity in antiquity, for example, was a great catastrophe, affecting many islands at once.

When you say myth are you talking histories atlantis or Jules Verne atlantis ?

Assuming for a moment your not stupid enough to believe in some extremely developed humans living out existence under sea its more than possible, fact even what history refers to is yet another civilisation that lived by the sea/small island and dew to magma chambers emptying or plate shift ended up slipping into he sea. Its also possible an ice age, flood could have caused its downfall.

Without something to go on more tangible than whats on record, no one can say either way.

Very true, it was a " natural disaster " that ended the Atlantis civilization.
I think its most likely bahamas and sargasso sea area that got flooded during the global warming as the ice age continues to abate
Dispite my absolute love for the Stargate franchise, I neither believe in ancient aliens nor Atlantis.

The internet always existed. Humans only just recently discovered it.
Also, I REALLY hope that's sarcasm.

I thought it was obviously that i meaned the original story about Atlantis, and not a science fiction roman.

Otto Muck wrote a book about his theory about the end of the last "Ice Age" and Atlantis, the name of the book is "The Secret of Atlantis" (Original "Alles über Atlantis). It is still one of the best sources about this kind of theory.
I was there yesterday, it was pretty fun.
