What if brand new triple A games cost $80?
Just the standard version. Would this much of a price increase of deter you from playing? What If the price of ALL games increased ~30%? Would that change anything?

Imagine not waiting for a game to go on sale to buy it. I literally never buy games at full price so clearly i would be playing fewer games if they cost that much.

I've paid $80 for games before. Street Fighter II, Starfox, Virtua Racing, Phantasy Star IV...wouldn't be anything new.

AAA Ps4 games start at $99 for standard editions and $130-$150 for their special editions here.

Canada. $80 isn't abnormal. $90-$100 for a "deluxe" edition. Then add another $20-$50 for a season pass. $120-$150 if you want a "complete" edition.

AAA games usually cost $100 here in straya with deluxe editions ranging from $120 - $150.

A good number of AAA games already have deluxe, ect. editions out that costs $80-$90+ USD. Doom: Eternal's Deluxe Edition comes to mind as it costs $90 that includes base game, year one pass, and extras.

I've heard that Phantasy Star 4 was around 100$ when it first came out, so...

I'm in no hurry to play games as soon as they come out nowadays, I just wait for sales or Humble Bundles. The rare exception is when it's a multiplayer game and I'm worried about falling behind at launch.
Don't mind paying more.

the way inflation is going games will cost that much before long.

and no I won't give up gaming but I would have to limit the games I do get and wait for sales.

Rarely buy AAA games at release nowadays, due to distrust in developers and lack of funds to spend on something I would now consider a gamble.

But when you really think of it plenty of games charge 20 or even 40 dollars more for their special editions that unlock bonus locked out content for people who pay the standard 60 dollar fee.
