mari also created Zen Fern Arts, among a bunch of other arts. was the backup audio engineer for zombulf and the only one of us the industry would tolerate. and made Kirby, as well as a bunch of other character designs. they had a lot of input on the family's game development scene too, typically one of the major persistent voices for humor and wholistic social issues.

well sekiro stars a ninja and hollow knight stars metaknight. it may as well be a kiwis by beat! comic getting those two flavors to get along.

yeah it was an attempt to recreate zelda after the rights were stolen, based on our experiences playing dark souls.

turns out we made dark souls. or the design docs at least, before the were handed to fromsoft to make kingsfield, the first elden ring, and eventually dark souls. based on our script and the ideas we'd written down for different systems it could use. filled in by From's creativity more or less, plus god's typical authorial alterations that sort of mar anyone else's attempts at creativity and ruin the source work most of the time. frigging time travel doesn't make any sense.

also around the time we lost the nascent dark souls rights too zeldas were being turned into boss rushes, as those were the most popular segments in champion editions and re-releases. so it's a strange artifact that it's being treated the same way. kinda wonder if this was one of the driving forces for Nier, this deeply automatic process the moon goes by. Which was also probably one of our scripts, though Tano's designs are Tano's designs.

I dunno if dark souls predated sekiro or if it inspired you or not; as far as I remember, it was based on itself. y'know, the altered final form it wound up in.
