Games Like Runescape?
Recently I have been playing Runescape, and I am aware that the option to play old runescape is available, but what I'm looking for is a game based around leveling up stats similar to runescape so leveling up mining, fishing, wood cutting, etc (not concerned about combat but don't mind if its there), basically I want to play runescape on steam but the big thing is it needs to have achievements because I mainly like to focus on 100% games and that affects my purchasing decisions a lot, the games doesn't have to be free to play or online i'm mainly focus on achievements and leveling up stats.

Wakfu and Dofus, but I think their achievements are broken (as in, Steam fails to recognize when the player gets those achievements in the game). Also, Ankama has highly unethical customer service; but then again, it's an MMO company, so that's par for the course.

Another good one is Eldevin, though I haven't played it since beta. As far as I remember, its story is linear and it uses combat classes (one page on its site says it's classless, but that's a complete lie - it even has a class page), but beyond that you can do anything you want, and I'm pretty sure you're not forced to do the main quests if you don't want to. Also the farming in the game is the best I've ever seen, and there's a skill for just gathering things as well as one for, believe it or not, skinning your kills.

And, of course, there's Mabinogi.

Thanks for the suggestions gonna give them a go now.

You're very welcome. I honestly wish there were far more games like these, as it's a winning formula.

Yeah the game play feels super fun while also being somthing you can jump in and out of, and most games focus on progressing with dialog where I never felt pressured to care with runescape.

It's unfortunate that RuneScape has not aged well ever since RS3, as now it's focusing exclusively on high-level content. As far as I know, Mabinogi does not have that problem (it's actually the reverse - it keeps redoing early content and keeps a massive gap between the most recent saga and everything before it, no matter which saga they're on).

As for the other three, I have no clue.

Ah... I also forgot Albion. It released recently and I have yet to try it out, but if you want a variant of RuneScape that's more of a PvP sandbox, it should be up your alley.

There's also Crowfall, which is in development, but it's based on limited sessions where the world you're in has a lifespan (which depends on the "level" of that world). It's also a PvP sandbox, but with some kind of semi-permadeath per world, although your progress and items from each session are given to you when you leave it (by failing miserably or the world ending, since you can't just eject from a world).

Both games are unique, but also B2P without demo, as far as I'm aware. On the other hand, Mabi, Eld, and Wakfu are F2P, while Dofus has a F2P area like RS, though much, much smaller as it's a real demo.

Eldevin was kind of similar, though honestly there hasn't been a game that I've found that is as rewarding has runescape is and nothing that immerse you in the same way, atleast runescape style games.

World of Warcraft has multiple professions you can level up to 700 and the ability to renew your membership with in-game currency.

The issues I have with WOW is that they are on blizzard which means no steam achivments and it is also suppscription bassed and I perssonaly don't play games that require multiple payments. I understand they can have any business model they want and I personaly think Blizzard are great but I'm a one playment type of gamer.

FYI Suggesting WoW is taboo in the MMO world. Everybody already knows what WoW is and everyone has their own very good reasons for not playing it.

Professions in WoW are completely forgettable, though. Like everything else in modern WoW, they are very watered down. Early on, professions were meaningful, but never in the Ultima Online/EVE/Runesape way. WoW does many things well, for what it is, but professions aren't one of them, I feel.

Well you can always try Ragnarok but i suggest playing on a private server with 10-15 x exp server because if your by your self the grind is horrendous but regardless the grind will be daunting it is a lot of fun if you plan on playing the normal server really recommend against that it is on steam ro2 is fairly bad but if you wanna play together i wouldnt mind when i am available just hit me up oh also you can always try a minecraft runescape server something about a first person pov just feels better to me to be honest also with Ragnarok there is a lot of planning to do before you can really sink your teeth into it but personally it is a really deep game just hard af to get into but once you do it is easy to get hooked

RPG MO. It's a lot like Classic Runescape. It's actually inspired by games like Runescape and Ultima.

I don't know if Ultima Online has achievements, but it's got quite a dedicated player base and some pretty hardcore RP servers, and it's got the same system as RS.

You should try Fallout 1 & 2. They have a top-down perspective, and there is a MMO mod called "Fallout Online" (i think), that lets you level up, gathers things, explore... Its pretty cool. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbPxzDcRZ7M
