Gamer Rage and Anger Management
So, I seem to have a teensy bit of a problem getting frustrated and angry when I play video games. I'd like to think that I'm just passionate, but I guess others don't think so. I don't throw stuff or break things, but I do get loud and sometimes I yell. I've always been a competative person, in school and at work, but this aspect of my nature seems to get the better of me when I play video games. Anyway, I'm looking to work on this. What techniques have you found to be the most successful when you find yourself getting frustrated and angry with a game?

I stop playing it and take a breather or just learn to not give a care at all to whatever it is that makes me frustrated in the game.
Ask yourself why you're getting upset at something you're doing to relax.. In the end, its just a game. The younger you are, the harder it is to control your emotions so it could be way easier said than done. Ask a teenager to settle down? Probably impossible.
I don’t really rage at games, but I think that just breathing would help with anger
take break or modify gameplay
I got so mad once i bit my ps3 controller and it exploded and cut the heck outta my mouth.

Ive headbutted my xbox 360 controller and both broke the joystick and left a indentation on my forehead.

I ghetto stomped a pc to hell once.

Ive thrown a remote through my old 32 inch tv...

Ahh the list goes on..
I'm quite vocal when I get frustrated and angry...

Can I win just one frickin' time before I die? Is there anyone willing to forfeit for the sake of my sanity? I'll buy you a cup of coffee.

there is being passionate and then there is being silly. take a couple of breaths out in a corner before coming back, or better still play something else, especially if you know what the trigger is.
Get out, get some air, sleep and eat well
i used to do a lot of raging when i was a kid, i'm 30 now and going gray because i had too much stress in my life. i used to use the same excuse that i was passionate about what i am doing, but these days i realised it was a really silly phase and should of spent more time away from that idiot box so i couldn't RATM later on.
Stop playing video games. If you get pissed off playing a video game then find another hobby.

i hope the op can learn to self-deprecate at some point, looking back over the whole thing and laughing at how silly it was with no shame about it. that is a healthy release from those mental shackles.
Funny thing about these video games.

You have a real world problem or problems you don't know how to solve or deal with. So you buy another problem - a video game. Doesn't matter if its an FPS, 2d, 3d, multiplayer, co op, whatever. At some point or another something doesn't go to plan and you get upset about it until either you figure out the game pattern, or you get more upset, frustrated and now you have another problem.

And we pay for this? But its fun, right?

The game is too hard, its too easy. They've made it easier for todays generation. DRM, DLC, Early Access, Beta, F2P, P2W, etc.

Its up to you to figure things out in your own way. Although I can say if you didn't really create the problem you don't have to solve it or find the solution.
When i get mad at i game and want to throw my mouse or destroy my monitor i remind myself that i paid for all this and i would rather not spend more money on replacing it.

So what you're saying is if I had a hobby like knitting and I got frustrated because I had difficulty threading the needle I should never do it again? Even if it's something I love?
