The anthem Russia has now has dark connotations too in terms of history, and given that Putin has dictator powers now, maybe a new version of 'God Save the Tzar' would suffice for a new president.

But the old instrumental has since been brought back due to popular demand.
And unless you are a Russian and German citizen, and mean "we" as in "We, the Russian and German people"; then you don't get a say in what the Russian and German anthems should be. How would you feel if some random dude from another country would say something like "We should change the British anthem because 'God save the Queen' sounds too conservative these days, when both religion and monarchy are no longer the be all and end all"?
And I suggested God Save the Tsar, because Patriotic Song did seem boring to Russia...
