Oof
Build your big bad attack space ship, Attack cargo space ship and disable them, then haul them back to base and take them appart and lewd dat booty they had. Then use the parts to make a bigger and badder attack ship to take on more dangerous ships.
Theres actual real risk in your ship losing and you losing everything that went into building it. Or accidently destroying the best parts of the ship you wanted to take over.
And every ship, has a cost in materials to make. You can make fast ships, slow ships, ships that are gunz and missles from head to toe, or a fighter with a single weapon, ect.
and sea of thieves is a joke you can see everything in the game in like 1 or 2h (didn't even pay for it, game pass ftw ;) )
black flag is still the best pirate game tbh
I've heard Sid Meier's Pirates is pretty good.
Yes! Also Sea Dogs 2 (also known as Pirates of the Caribbean) aka this game: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean_(video_game)
is one of the best pirate themed games of all time with the New Horizons mod. More realistic than Black Flag but still somewhat casual like Sid Meier's Pirates. You can do anything you want. Want to become a pirate? Easy, just start raiding every other nation's ships. Want to become a trader? also easy. Just buy certain goods that islands produce and sell them to towns and citys that need them. You can also become a privateer, build your own pirate base, complete quests, go on treasure hunts, marry a governor's daughter (like in Sid Meiers lol).

The game really went under the radar, but its an underrated gem. Only problem is actually getting a copy of the game. I remember seeing it for $80 on Amazon once.
edit: Also its not on Steam because of licensing issues
