Plural words don't make sense
Someone on YouTube called Cinemassacre did a video about this years ago. So i'll quote that video a lot. Anyways, when using a plural word here's the rule: If a word ends with a vowel, the word ends with an "-s". Apples, flowers, etc. If the word does not end with a vowel, it either ends with "-es" or "-ies". Simple, right? Well, NO. If there is more than one box it's called boxes, but if there are more than one ox it's called oxen. Why not "oxes"? What is te plural of fish? Fishes? Fishen? No! Fish is the plural of fish! Not mouses but mice, but house is houses? Not mans, but men?? Who made these up?? This is complicated. You know what, screw it, watch that video that i mentioned earlier instead. He did a better job than i did:

The part where he talks about plural words starts at 1:42

You never tried to learn Russian if you think that English is bad.No one in this whole damn country can write in it properly.

English began as a language of trade in the northern Germanic areas; an amalgamation of various common languages spoken at the time. English borrowed everything from French to Greek and even Latin. That's why it's a bastardized language.

It is a rather efficient language, though.

There sure are multiple versions of Russian.
The child inside me disagrees!

There's many fishes in the sea... the school nurse just happened to be happily married with a Husband and kids... otherwise would of been totally keen for your crush in middle school... I'm quite sure.

I would use the word fishes regularly.

The oxes also exist in Old English. Not so common now, compared to oxen, which everyone uses.

Childes on the other hand means "Child Language Data Exchange System", rather than Children.

There's a whole pile of George Carlin videos on youtube... like the one where he mocks the English langauge... (pretty much all of them)
English has words that are derived from many different languages, that's the main reason why it has so many exceptions to its "rules".

As I recall from hazy drunk college days, despite its mildly absurd spelling conventions etc, English is the most efficient global language in terms of information per syllable. As opposed to Japanese which is one of the worst.
For Christ's sake it's not even hard to begin with, come on !
English's an easy language, which compliments its widespread use very well.
