Help with uninstalling a program
Hello all, hope this one is simple. I recently uninstalled Twitter from my Windows 10 start menu, and everything looked fine. Now the Twitter icon is there, and when I right click, and select uninstall, it does nothing. Any help is appreciated, its getting frustrating.

Also note, its the app version from the Windows store. Couldnt find anything online with this situation. Thanks again.

Have you tried reinstalling it then uninstalling?

It may not actually be installed, possibly just a way to reinstall it if you try to open it.
Either way, its not going to use much space so even if it is still partially installed it'll have no impact
I will give that a try....right now....thank you

It actually showed as a second Twitter icon. Its like theres a perma Twitter on my computer.

mmmm...
you can try uninstalling through add/remove apps instead of the way ur doing it..

Can also try rebooting after its uninstalled to see if the icon remains..
dunno
Just restarted and its still there as if it was still installed. Ive tried the Command things and that didnt do anything. I am trying to remove registry files next.
dont mess with the registry unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing.

CCleaner may have an app remover, cant remember if it does but you could try that.

You can also try IObit Uninstaller from www.iobit.com , its useful for removing programs/windows apps.
Well I did what I know how to do safely, and the Twitter icon is still there. When I do click it, it takes me right to the Windows App Store. I can right click it and hit uninstall, but does nothing. I have looked in my folders and nothing shows of Twitter being installed or in the Windows App folder.

It sucks, it may be one of those perma installed things or I need someone who knows where this file is to delete it. My OCD is going nuts.

:steamsad:
i may not understand, but if it was uninstalled and the icon is there, isn't it just a shortcut that you can delete and the actual program is gone?
If a tile is left there on the StartMenu, yes simply delete that tile.
If you are seeing the icon on that start menu as you say then it is just the icon that is staying around not the program. To remove the icon right click on it and select unpin from start. That will completely remove the icon so you never have to see it.

To make sure that the app really is gone I would suggest using CCleaner. It is free, and has the ability to fully uninstall Win 10 apps even the ones that refuse to uninstall like OneDrive. To do so with CCleaner go to the tools tab, and the uninstaller will be the first thing to show up. Look to see if it shows the app. If it doesn't show it then the app really is uninstalled, and all you where seeing was the pinned icon.
Thanks for all the responses. I do use CCleaner and Twitter is no where to be found. I have checked the folder locations and again, no Twitter. When I right click it, it only shows Pin to Start, Uninstall, etc. As if it was installed. Hitting uninstall does nothing.

I tried to do that Powershell line, but that I am not familiar with, if I am doing it right or not. I tried using the same line people have used to get rid of other apps such as Cortana, and replaced it with the word Twitter, but nothing happened.

Somehow, the Icon is perma-pinned and when clicked, goes to the MS Store. I tried downloading it again and it actually shows up as 2 Twitter icons. I uninstalled the new one and the old one stays.

Thats what I have tried and the results. Thanks for all the help by the way.

Try using Geek uninstaller. If the Twitter thing comes up in the list, you should be able to safely uninstall it. If that fails (which from the looks of it it does) you can do a forced removal. It'll automatically delete all the associated files of that app. Hasn't failed me once.

Although I'm not sure why you're trying to remove default apps anyway. All it does is cause problems. They don't get in the way, they take up no space and don't use any processing power. Just leave those apps be and ignore them.

Much safer, much easier and much more sensible.
