Was the female Ghostbusters movie any good?

I didn't follow what people thought about the movie. I just watched the trailer and decided that it was trash.

But I was interested in knowing how many people liked it, how much they liked it, and why they liked it.

I really liked the original Ghostbusters movies, but the remake looked like vomit.

If you've ever wanted to watch awful half ad-libbed half terribly written cringe comedy drag on for 105 minutes, in which the most entertaining thing to happen is the movie ending, it's right up your street.

I gave it the benefit of the doubt and went to see it and I have to say, it was one of the most painful cinema experiences I've ever had.

There was a real charm to the eighties effects of the original as well.

I don't get why they want Arnold Schwarzenegger to be the Terminator in yet another upcoming reboot. Even with CGI, he is wayyyyy too old. I mean he is iconic and his old movies wouldn't be the same without him, but it is time to move on.

Same thing with Carrie Fisher, she is in the freaking grave already and still they had to pull this unbelievably bad Leia Poppins stunt instead of just letting her die.

heard it was ♥♥♥♥, but it got me around to watching the OG ghostbusters movies and the animated series, they were great

It's meh, but it's not up to the standards of the two Ghostbuster films before it. Everyone liked to point and laugh at James Rolfe's non-review of the film, but his number one complaint with the film was that it's almost all CGI in a series that won awards for its practical effects, and it was the film that inspired him to make the practical effects he employs in The Angry Video Game Nerd and all throughout his other film projects. The Ghostbusters reboot is mostly a product of its time, CG antics and jokes pulled from the contemporary season of SNL, and there's nothing wrong with that, just it can't hold a candle to the first two films. The actresses can definitely give good performances, but this film wasn't it, the direction was poor and the script lacking.

It brought back Ecto Cooler, at least, so there's that.

I get the feeling that the only reason you are defending this movie in the most unconvincing of ways is because of the genders and races of the cast. Like, if you had three movies that were all crap, but one had an all female cast, one had an all black cast, and one had all an white male cast... you'd go out of your way to defend the ones with the females and black people in it but not care so much what people thought about the movie with an all white male cast.
