But it's already been legit confirmed that the cia uses Alexa as well as Samsung smart TV to spy on people. Not that they are likely actively spying, but more like algorithms listening for key words and phrases.
I dunno though, I'm not paranoid about any spying or anything, I just honestly don't see any legit uses for Alexa that makes my life easier or makes me want to go get one. It takes me 10 seconds longer to look it up on google if I need a question answered, I already got tons of ways to play my own music, and I don't really use shopping lists anyway, and if I wanted I can make one on my phone 10 seconds longer than Alexa can.
It's an always-on microphone in your house that gives you the ability to do stuff by yelling at it. It kind of sucks that you need to get special smart lightbulbs/switches/plugs/etc. though. You can also have it sync to your phone.
It's not a matter of if it's "good" or not, it's a matter of if the pros outweigh the cons. Personally, I don't care for one and don't trust the companies to securely protect my data or ethically use it.
