Share your Gaming/Gamer Story!
Hello,

The week has started. It's Monday and apparently I'm free for a few hours, so I thought it would be interesting to read your personal gaming story!

I'll get it started.

My First Game
I played my first game when I was a young, confused and extremely shy kid. Back in the day we didn't have many options and PC Gaming probably wasn't as popular as Console Gaming.

Year 2000 - I don't even know how to turn on my PC and I need my dad's assistance to turn it on!

My first game, a gift from my dad, is here! Is it a virtual reality game? Is it an open-world massive online multiplayer game? Or maybe a first-person shooter?

No, no and no. My first game was Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed[en.wikipedia.org] - a racing game. The graphics were beautiful and the gameplay was great.

When I played this game for the first time, I only had a Desktop PC. No, it wasn't a high end PC to be honest. In fact, my first PC was so bad that I had to manually set the paging file size or else my first game ever would lag (and my lags were pretty bad, honesty!)

More Games? Great, that's just great!
My dad was (and still is) probably a smart guy. If I approved my exams, my reward was games. He motivated me to study and eventually give importance to knowledge and manners.

Year 2002/2004 - Good news! I now know how to turn on my PC!

I also now own a game called Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit[en.wikipedia.org]. It looks decent, it's fun. Wait, split-screen? Dad! Check this out!

My first split-screen game is here to stay and I play it with my best friend, my dad!

Cops, crashing, exotic sports cars... At this point, I really started to like racing games and cars in real life. I now even have a favorite car, the Porsche 911 (996) GT3 RS. Beautiful machine. Beautiful design. When I'm old, I want to own one of these!

Internet connection and the awakening of my competitive side
Year is 2004 still, but now I have an Internet connection. Can you guess my first Google Search? I remember it perfectly. Spoiler below!

download games free

And yes, I downloaded malware. Sad, isn't it? Well, at least, now I know it's very important to have an antivirus installed. New games? Yes, I now have new games, but the next radical change to my gaming story didn't happen just yet.

Year 2005 - The Radical Change

2005, new games, new experiences. I now own Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005)[en.wikipedia.org] - More cops, more beautiful cars, a very interesting story.

When I completed the Need for Speed: Most Wanted career for the first time, I tried multiplayer racing, which was included in the game.

My first "real" multiplayer experience awakened my competitive side. Losing races made me realize that I wasn't the best player. It was disappointing, but at the same time, it was good because I started playing games "for real" - no more casual gaming sessions. I wanted to improve my skills and get better.

It took me several years, but I did it. My dream to be a good player became true and the only thing I had to do was play my favorite games.

Year 2008/Present

New games, new hardware, new everything, including new friends and new controllers.
I no longer play my games using my keyboard. I now own a racing wheel, which makes racing games easier.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwnbJLrtgZg

There are no old games. There are only classic games. And games that I used to play as a kid are still alive in my hard drive.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OZc2kNULik
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lP1RFKpkH-c

I may not be the best, but I'm not the worst either. If you want to improve your skills, you will. The only thing you need to do is play your games. And play them for real.

Now it's your turn. Share your gaming story below!

I started out with a DS lite with Pokémon Heart Gold and LEGO Star Wars. After progressing through more Pokémon games (around when White came out) I learned my moms phone had games on it. I fell in love with poker and Tetris. Then, after it was accidentally flushed down a toilet (don’t ask) She got a smart phone. Then I found Minecraft. After a year of that, I started playing the Wii. From Wii I went to PlayStation, played my first shooter game (cod AW) then got a pc to play cs

The first time I played a video game, it was Pokemon Red on my cousin's GameBoy Color. I was 8 years old, and his mother just asked him to do something while he was exploring the Team Rocket hideout in Celadon City. So he put the GameBoy in my hands and told me to help him play the game for a while. I had no idea what to do so I just wandered around the base fighting the grunts. I remember that I leveled his Kadabra up and it wanted to learn Psybeam. That was when I stopped playing because I instinctively knew this was an important decision and waited for my cousin to come back.

The first game I ever owned was Pokemon Sapphire. Before that, my mother insisted that video games were for boys. So after 4 years of envying my cousins I finally got my own GameBoy Advance... with a caveat: it was an Advance SP... a pink one. Thanks for keeping the gender stereotypes alive, Mom. :maple2:

I spent most of my teenage years gaming on my GBA, then the NDS, as well as the original XBox. My dad and I would play splitscreen shooters on the XBox.

The first PC game I owned was Left 4 Dead. My cousin only just convinced me that this is "the game of the year" so I bought the game to see what he was on about. I was pleasantly surprised, it turned out to be my kind of game.
My first video game was either Donkey Kong or asteroids.

Since then I have owned and played almost every video game system under the sun.

While I do prefer PC, I actually don't really have a preference and enjoy both PC and console equally

Very interesting story!

I think I never played a Pokemon game (not even Pokemon Go), but Pokemon (as a series) was most definitely part of my childhood! 👍

My first gaming experience was Tetris on my uncle's DOS pc. However, the first game that really got me into gaming was Mario Party for the N64. The rest is history.

I played sonic two because the sonic fandom is the best fandom ever. And me being the hip 90s kid that I was, I needed games with new hot graphics only the sega gen could provide. Casino night blew me away, because now I could gamble just like mommy and daddy, who wouldn't let me at the poker table.

And then it happened I got a cush on the cutest boi ever, his name was miles and I knew he was the inspiration for the rest of my life. His values and morals were what this world needed, so he was now my hero. Move over regan, terresa, gandi, tails has come home to stay.

Every day, I thought when moral questions came up "What would tails do?" Over the years admiration became love and desire. The fandom thankfully never let me down. One thing lead to another and then marriage. Where we had a litter of 9 human fox hybrids. Two of our children went on to be great inventors like their daddy.

My only regret, is I never changed my name to his.

When I was 6 years old I sold crack in the streets but then my friend Jimmy the Heckler told me about rocket league and I haven't stopped playing since.
You're not using a steering wheel for NFS... Right op?

I started playing games at two years old. I can't remember the first game that I, MYSELF actually got but I remember the first one I played. It was some deer hunting PC game that my dad had. I started playing on PC and then I moved and stayed with consoles for a long time. Not too long ago I just got back into playing on PC. I love both. I'm 23 and I still love them. :) They never get old.

First console was ps1. First game was gran turismo. I liked it.

After having a ps2, ds and a ps3 (all of which I don't own anymore) I am where I am now, with a pc and a psp. I like racing games :)
