Then why did he give us the ability to reproduce? Hell, why did he literally say to "be fruitful and multiply" in the same book (genisis 1:28)?

Genesis isn't literal. It's describing ideas about creaation and origination. So there could be an idea about number. About 1, 2, 3, etc. 1 would be God. 2 would be Adam and Eve. 3 would be their 3 sons that are named in that book. Kane, Abel and Seth. And so on, just as nunbers continue "infinitely" or "reproduce". And that came afterwards. But you know stories are open to interpretation. One interesting and fun thing is trying to figure out the meaning in the details.
