I am attempting to decipher Lil Pump's lyrics to achieve enlightenment.
What do you guys think Lil Pump meant in the following lines from his hit song, "Gucci Gang"?

"My lean cost more than your rent, ooh (it do)
Your momma still live in a tent, yuh (brr)"

Is he referring to the general listener in the second person, or is it a specific person he is calling out? Does his specific mixture of codeine-containing cough syrup and soda cost so much that it is more than the average cost of rent? Or is he simply consuming so much of it that he has spent more on it than the average rent? Does he mean that the person or people that these lines are directed at is homeless? Is he congratulating someone on their low cost of living, as perhaps they have found a good deal? Is he insinuating that the person lives in a residence of poor condition due to their lack of wealth?

Lil Pump ad libs "it do" after the first line. I assume this is intended to emphasize said line. It is possible that he says this because the claim of the first line is somewhat incredulous, but Lil Pump is sure of his claim.

The second line may also reference homelessness, but I'm not entirely sure. I have not figured out why the mother of the person is living in a tent. We can only deduce that the mother has likely lived a tent for a significant amount of time, as Lil Pump's word choice includes the use of "still".

I would love to hear your feedback on these lyrics.

Having done some independent research, I have discovered that a brand of cough syrup commonly used for lean has been discontinued since 2014. This has resulted in a great increase in the price of making lean in some parts of the U.S. Thus, it is indeed possible that Lil Pump's lean does in fact cost more than your rent.

However, I still am unsure as to the deeper meaning of the second line.
I believe the second line stems from the fact that everyone is below Lil Pump on a hierarchy of houses with a tent being at the bottom of the pile. This means that your mum is so far down after all these years, she still lives in a tent and hasn’t progressed.

That's sarcasm, right?

:yinyangflip:
No. I'm dead serious. Lil pump is what the rap industry needs right now. He's created a whole new wave that so many others are trying to capitalize on right now
If only Tupac was alive...

Lol a friend fighting other friends battles. How sweet. He is corny just like korn is corny.

I just went to one of his videos and couldn't sit there listening to any more. His beats are junk no rhythm and no bass. The bass line was weak and even on my 2000 watt stereo i heard no bass. I like music that the bass makes your windows vibrate. I need bass that makes your whole house shake and his does not.
That just means your taste in music is not as sophisticated. Lil Pump is a rapper in his own league to be honest
Sorry i have to disagree. More like kids nowadays just listen to junk.

Just like the previous generation to the next generation and so on. It's an endless cycle. Your frustration could be summed up as "just another rambling old head"

So now your using that as an insult ok reported then. Cause that is exactly how your using it. I'm only in my 30's far from being old. Old is 50 plus. My mom is older then dirt as she is 68 and my dad is older then the earth and he is 68.

I didn't intend for it to be an insult. If you feel that way then it's probably true

He's referring to the fact that most people's music tastes are formed when they are in their teens, and don't change too much afterwards. This consistently results in the previous generation dismissing the current generation of music. There will be a time when Lil Pump fans will be the new old heads, and will likely dismiss whatever the new generation of music is.

You're not at your prime though. The body starts to deteriorate at 30. The more you know

Old head simply refers to people who only listen to previous generations of music and dismiss the current generation of music. It can be used derogatorily, but it is generally just a descriptor.
