I can't imagine screaming for a person back when I was a mute. Though tbf talking normally to me felt like I was yelling.

If the person is (for example) deaf and does not know how to speak, they can still make sounds. Mute doesn't necessarily mean that you don't have vocal cords.
a mute trying to scream would probably be the same as trying to scream during sleep paralysis
the most that came out would prob just be a small squeak
