What if i do cyber security as a major but still study a bit of games dev on the side as a sub major? This way i am still focused on cyber security but i know basics of game dev for like indie work.
Just do this. Get a good load of money in the security field and try some indie stuff on the side. If your game development produces promising results or even a small income you can lay money aside to at some time be able to get completely independent and take your time to develop a game. Just don't get financially dependent on game develoment, it will lead to serious headaches and crunch at 90% of the available positions.

Software development is a quite challenging field in itself, but game development is even harder and usually paid much worse. Security isn't easy as well, but the payment is way higher and the crunch isn't as huge (as long as you don't ♥♥♥♥ up).

For myself I chose software development over game development or security stuff as I want to make good money but don't want to have the responsibility if the security explodes (although I kind of have this for my software, at least partially :>).
