I was IP banned from gaming forum because of "top 10 firefox add-ons"
I was watching "top 10 Firefox/Chrome addons/extensions" videos and they all highly recommened few anti-spy, ads-block and other addons, that would make my internet activities faster and safer. Ive installed some of recommended addons.

After 1st day of usage, I was "temporarily IP banned" from gamefaqs forum due to a "large number of HTTP requests. (it might me related to "HTTPS Everywhere" addon).

Now there is a message that if I want to be unblocked, I must delete those extensions from my browser and "stop all autamated scans or other abusive behaviour" and click the "unblock-button".

I'm not programming geek and I don't understand who is the bad guy in this situation, maybe those extensions are bad and I should get rid of them? Or maybe this web site is bad, and I should stop using it?

why would you put random addons into your browser?

of course get rid of the addons, the video was probably advertising malware

That can be the website using anti-adblock script. Adblocker like uBlock Origin has a filter that will block most anti-adblocks and let you browse those sites. I was perfectly able to visit gamefaqs if that was the website in question. Or it may be for other reasons like I state below.

HTTPS Everywhere is completely safe and shouldn't cause any issues. Its function is to automatically use HTTPS on sites that allow both unencrypted and encrypted connections. It's most likely something else that is causing the problem. If you downloaded any proxy add-ons that changes your IP then that's the reason. Because you will be sharing the same IP with a lot of people and some people use free proxies to abuse and be malicious which causes the IP to get blacklisted by the site operators. Remove those proxy add-ons if you have any.

List all the extensions/add-ons you're using if you want me to tell what's useful and not.

You're a stranger though, should we trust what you just said?

it was OK for me too, but I was banned the NEXT day after I installed those addons: "HTTPS Everywhere". "Ghostly", "Stylish" and ad-block.

here is the message from gamefaqs:

Blocked IP Address
Your IP address has been temporarily blocked due to a large number of HTTP requests. The most common causes of this issue are:

If you are using the Maxthon browser, it may have been sending some extremely suspicious traffic to our site recently. Continued use may cause your IP to be blocked indefinitely.

Using a script or add-on that scans GameFAQs for box and screen images, overloading our search engine

Running a "scraper" or "downloader" program that either does not identify itself or uses fake headers to elude detection

Using a badly configured (or badly written) browser add-on for blocking content

Overusing our search engine with a very large number of searches in a very short amount of time

If you promise to stop (by clicking the Agree button below), we'll unblock your connection for now, but we will immediately re-block it if we detect additional bad behavior.

If you do not understand what is causing this behavior, please contact us here.

If you wish to be unblocked, you must agree that you will take immediate steps to rectify this issue. Please fill out the CAPTCHA below and then click the button to indicate that you agree to these terms. Continued abuse of our services will cause your IP address to be blocked indefinitely.

I'm not a robot

I agree to stop all automated scans or other abusive behaviour

Honestly the only thing you need is Ublock

And get rid of that https add-on, it does more harm than good

Ghostery (unlike other ad-blockers) uses an anti-tracking heuristic system that analyzes request urls and modifies (removes any uniqueness) its data instead of blocking it like blocklist based adblockers do. So everyone who uses Ghostery will have the same UID, and gamefaqs is appearantly using an anti-spam tool to check for this and automatically block any suspicious UIDs. So you might appear as thousands of other people, hence the "large number of HTTP requests" regardless of your IP (kinda makes gamefaq's anti-spam tool flawed, imo).

Use uBlock Origin instead. And whatever that other "adblock" is that you mentioned, remove it. You only need one.

I used ABP a lot in the past but I stopped using it ever since they implemented that "whitelisted ads" feature. I was wondering if my version was outdated or something as I was getting ads every now and then but turns out that was a feature. I switched to uBlock and I haven't gotten any ads yet.

I don't see any ads at all none zero ziltch nada. That is because you didn't go into the settings and uncheck allow acceptable ads. If you uncheck that you won't see any ad again. Most people don't uncheck that and wonder why they still see small ads if you uncheck that all ads go away. I don't even see social media icons on sites.

Thing is, I found that "addition" to lose my trust on ABP. If they're going to add something like that (even if optional) what's stopping them from adding something worse?

This new option drop-down is new to me.

First of all, don't use some random crappy addons.

Secondly, refer to my first point.
