If you're happy to play on an ancient dodgy platform to play an incredibly complex 2d rpg then I'd recommend Space Station 13 on BYOND. You can meet some really awesome people on there if you find the right community.

How do you not know what darkrp is? Its what gmod is mostly known for. The other two being prop hunt and its sandbox. Darkrp is a roleplaying mode, you join an "darkrp" server, read the motd then once you've read the rules (which is a must) you pick a role/job. The main goal of darkrp is to make money be it from raiding bases/stores or simply running a store such as a gunstore. Its really a great mode its just the people that play it mostly ruin it. You'll come across a wide variety of trolls/12vies trying to get each other and people banned. Which is funny when it happens which is part of the charm that darkrp has. Again its just the people constantly lying to the admins and braking rules and the kids that raid everyone 2 seconds that think they're good because of it that may ruin your experience. Sorry if none of this made sense im on moblie too lazy to fix any issues.

selkcar summed it up pretty well.
DarkRP is like a box of candy, but almost every piece is full of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Sure, you'll find a good piece if you look hard enough, but the bad heavily outweighs the good.

It's kinda fun if you just want to cause some chaos, though.
