Facebook (aka project dataminer) does a lot of hidden stuff...

- Upload a photo and you get to label who's in it. It however adds additional hidden tags to each person, cross referencing them. So it doesn't care if you called that person Bob, it will add John behind the scene. It's using a PhotoDNA technology which doesn't care about photo colours, effects, crops, etc. You upload a photo of another person to impersonate, for example, it will know the real name of that person from other references.

- You are asked to create a timeline of your entire life, which it fills in the blanks. In America, they where planning to microchip babies, so you have your driver's license, criminal record, blood type, next of kin, etc - all on you, rather than using cards. That was however considered immoral, so they paid off the next best thing, social networks, in which the person provides all that information and more for free.

- It will figure out your image from birth all the way up to your current age, then add in family, friends, and co-workers, etc, accordingly. Add in your school or work place, location, etc.

- Even the ads are monitoring you. For example: Thumb up all the photos of your friends wearing caps (hats) and over time it will start advertising to you caps to purchase. It's selling your 'likes' to advertisers as well as law enforcement.

- Have a photo of you at a party, employers can easily look up and check what you have been up to. Have a photo posing and showing off a bunch of guns, law enforcement can see. Post a comment about gate crashing a party on Friday, same deal. There's so much information given away freely, up for the grabs.

- Facebook apps, even spy upon you. You are asked to allow permissions. Say you are a kid playing a game with friends, it however asks you access to your personal details, photos, allowing to make posts on your behalf, etc. Just once, upon first launch. Most don't read it, and therefore it has continuous access from that point on, even when you aren't using it.

- Now try and delete a photo, it merely hides it from you. You aren't even allowed to delete your account. That information is theirs for the keeping.

one of the reasons why i'll try to quit facebook, but when it's the only place you can contact all your friends...
Facebook's "People You May Know" is usually based on your city, school/workplace listings, and mutual friends.
