Spatially cumbersome, yes. The same way it's cumbersome for "short" people....
Most spaces are designed for a "normal" or "average" size person.... making some situations seem "clumsy" for taller people...
Hubby's 6' 1" and he's not clumsy. He does have issues with his large hands getting banged up at times because they don't fit into small spaces as well as my small hands, but clumsy as in tripping or falling or whatever ... nah. My 6' 5" brother is not either.
It would kinda be like saying all tall people have insane jumping skills because of basketball players.
Also, let's make this thread into what it is.
Are blacks crooks just because they're black. No
Are blondes dumb just because they're blonde? No, although my blonde GF admits to being a bit slow.
Are bald white guys all racist? No, I'm an equal opportunity hater.
Are all Muslims out to blow you up? No.
It's the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, just reworded.
Tall people aren't any more clumsiy than the bald black Muslim with the ditzy blonde GF who stole you newspaper and blew up your mailbox.
That last parts a joke.
And like I said, it would be the same as saying that all tall people are good jumpers because of basketball players.
You seem angry about this.
There are some scientific factors to consider why there is a possibility to why tall people are more likely to be clumsy. We have gravity to consider and as you know... Tall things tends to be more unstable the taller it gets. Then you have to consider the fact that humans have just recently become much taller due to better nutrition so being tall is very new to the evolution of human anatomy. All the tall people I've seen (and know) who isn't an athlete use slower movements and walks more carefully than short people. That might be how their bodies have compensated for it. The really tall ones have trouble with the balance to the point of having to use canes.
So is it so outlandish to understand why people would ask such a question? I'm no expert but it's just my observations.
Confirmed.
I knew a kid who got shin splints because he shot up so fast, it caused a ton of stress on his shins.
For me it's the knees and back that hurt the most. Curse you, natural growth!
In all seriousness, just to add to what print said, there is a greater lag time in neural response for tall people. It's not much, but it is there. The main thing that makes taller or heavier people more clumsy is something he touched on - the sheer mass and volume. If you double the size of an object, you quadruple its volume. It it is materially analagous to a smaller object, like a short person's arm versus a tall one, the force required to move it is also quadrupled.
Fortunately, people aren't usually twice the size of others unless we consider extrmes, so the effect isn't terribly debilitating, but tall people have to work harder to generate the same amount of motive force, and to correct for it, while having a higher center of gravity.
Though some won't like to hear it, this hardly means small people can flip around like Yoda and defeat a tall person through speed, or demonstrate the strength of Ant-Man. Tall people still have much greater reach and (all other things being equal) greater total strength.
