does fps counter drop your fps?

The steam overlay one causes some fps loss for some people but not for me.

It might a little if you have a crap CPU, but otherwise it shouldn't

If you're using Steams integrated fps counter, no, if the game has an integrated counter, no, things like MSI Afterburner and FRAPS may (although slightly) impact performance.

The performance loss wouldn't be much if at all.

Generally down to your CPU and RAM, I'm not entirely sure if the steam overlay uses memory separate to the game though, might have to check sometime, even worse when it's the steam overlay + Uplay overlay although if you have a decent CPU, you wouldn't even notice.
