Serious question, do you know ANYONE who actually bought WinRar?
''Please note that WinRar is not free software. After a 40 day trial period you must either buy a license or remove it from your computer''

I don't know about you, but i doubt i would even think of buying it if i was richest person on earth. What's the point? Am i missing something here?

Companies have to purchase the software if they want to keep using it. That's how RARLabs makes money.

The average home user does not need to purchase it as the contract doesn't apply to them.

I bought Winrar (or was it Winzip... meh, same thing) years ago. It was that cheap that I didn't care and just paid up along with other software used for work. Yes I know there are free versions but Winrar just works better to me. Ironically last year or the year before, I didn't even know I had a dodgy version of one of the ZIPs so I uninstalled it and left the comment in feedback as "Sorry, I didn't know it was dodgy".

Time vs money vs reliability. It wan't much money and I would have profited from it anyway.

I remember an old high school friend bought it, because he did a lot of downloading and found it very useful. Always thought that was slightly odd given that he was quite specifically avoiding paying for 100% of the things he was downloading.

If you work in Corporate you would know that companies are not allowed to use Freewares.

Is this still true? It's a friendly question, really, I'm just curious.
