I would assume that both have their niches that make them appealing to different audiences, so I don't think either one is better than the other.
A few months ago, I would of said that Overwatch is inspired by TF2, but after TF2's Jungle Inferno update and Overwatch's "Yeti Update" which came out after the TF2 update, I'm beginning to think that Overwatch is slightly ripping off TF2. For those who are uninformed, TF2's recent update was centered around a "endanged animals zoo" called Yeti Park, and the lore was centered around the Yeti. Overwatch then came out with an update a few months later introducing a Yeti boss fight, while this could be a coincidence it should be noted that Overwatch has subtly followed the foot steps of TF2 in the past (Lucioball could be considered a "rip off" of TF2's Passtime mode). I won't go as far to say the Overwatch is straight up ripping off TF2, but I think Overwatch is very closely following in TF2 footsteps to the point where it's a little suspicious.
Think maybe Quake Champions takes that one.
Now Overwatch... lootboxes and an premium price of 40 euros. Now that is something that bothers me. Witch is also the reason i never bothered with it.
So TF2 for me since its atleast F2P.
I'll never buy Overwatch, Blizzard should have came up with something better than ripping the same exact style of play from Valve and calling it a new game. Even if they want to argue that there are more heroes and that "the game is more diverse than Team Fortress 2"
So what, you added a rampaging gorilla to your game? Nintendo did that a long time ago.
But is it overwatch ?
