Looking for an RTS game for a novice

As the name suggests I am looking for some games to help me get started. Although i have played a handfull of RTS games (all be it I can't wasn't good at them) but that was a long time ago. I have tried: Total War Shogun 2 and Rome 2. Also Company of heroes 2,

'Dawn of war' until soulstorm is great. It's a bit old though.

The first RTS I played was Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. The campaign plot is absurd but the gameplay is pretty fun.

If you like Lord of the Rings,you can try Lord of the Rings:Battle for Middle Earth 2(Unsure about the first one,but i love the second one.)

Never watched Lord of the rings, only the hobbit but then halfway through it i got bored. It's only my opinion but I'm not a fan. Also if i were to try it how do i get it it says it's on moddb but of what game is this a mod of?

If you never watched LoTR then most likely you wont understand the game.


It's not a mod,but i'm unsure if it's possible to even find it anywhere anymore.It's a Pre-WB Rights game,so it was made by EA.I think you can only get Physical Copies now but i'm honestly not sure.

Star Wars Empire at War old game lots of mods and a really easy to get into RTS.

Pretty sure RTS games aren't beginner friendly... like... at all
Though I guess the latest Fire Emblem games do count as RTS and seem very easy 🤔

From all the RTS games i played i feel like Steel divison 44 is the most beginner friendly.

Units will automaticly find cover and if you give them the orders they will either automaticly take the fastest route or automaticly stop to fire upon an enemy if possible.
+ The AI is actuely pretty decent and the scripted campaing might be an decent starting point.

Multyplayers isnt the most active so if you are fine with an campaing mode + skirimish with decent bots then i would say check it out.

I don't really like multiplayer when it comes to RTS games. I do like a challange in FPS games, but i think that it's because I played alot of FPS games from medal of honor to STALKER. I'll check on steel division 44, thank you.

That's why I'm looking for anything to start with. Now i don't need something as easy as Dawn of war or as complicated as Stellaris. Anything in the middle of difficulty where i can think for myself but also get some tips.
